Fortnite's Chapter 5 Update Revives a Debated Weapon
In a recent Fortnite update, the divisive Lock On Pistol has made a comeback, sparking mixed opinions among players about its effectiveness. The unique weapon, absent for seven months, was reintroduced in the January 9th update, causing debates within the Fortnite community. Over its seven-year history, Fortnite has introduced various powerful weapons, each offering new ways to outplay opponents. The Lock On Pistol, with its distinct abilities, has been a point of contention since its inception. Despite initial debates, the pistol has reappeared in the game, available in chests, floor loot, and other sources after being vaulted for seven months. The Lock On Pistol, falling in the rare tier of weapon rarity, can lock onto enemies within 50 meters. After a brief charge, it delivers up to four shots, automatically hitting the target without requiring precise aiming. While it deals 20 damage to the body and 25 to the head, it may take multiple salvos to eliminate an enemy with shields. Players often counter its charging period by building, making it effective against opponents unable to build, especially in Fortnite's Zero Build mode.
