Tricky Mercy move in Overwatch 2: Guardian Angel exploit keeps players on their toes
Overwatch 2 players who main Mercy have discovered a way to exploit the healer's Guardian Angel ability, causing some issues in the game. Currently in its eighth season titled "Call of the Hunt," Overwatch 2 introduces a wilds-themed battle pass, the limited-time mode Battle of the Beasts, and the new Tank hero Mauga. In Overwatch 2, support heroes play a crucial role in keeping the team alive, making them high-priority targets for opposing teams. To help support heroes stay mobile or escape from the enemy's frontline, many have abilities like Swift Step and Fade. Mercy, a popular support hero, possesses an ability called Guardian Angel, allowing her to dash quickly toward a nearby ally. Some Mercy players have discovered that hitting the crouch button during a Guardian Angel dash enables a "Super Jump," letting her gain a better vantage point and added aerial movement.
However, it appears that certain Mercy players in Overwatch 2 have found a way to bypass the Super Jump's intended 1.5-second cooldown. A clip posted on the Competitiveoverwatch subreddit by SammyIsSeiso showcased Mercy's Super Jump immediately recharging when the player cancels Guardian Angel at the exact moment they hit crouch to initiate the Super Jump. This exploit allows Mercy to continuously dart back up into the air every three seconds, making it challenging for opponents to deal with her. It's evident that this use of Mercy's Super Jump is not intended by the game developers. The Overwatch team is likely aware of this issue, given their close connection with the community, and a fix is expected in the near future. Looking ahead to Overwatch 2's upcoming events, the annual Winter Wonderland event is set to start on December 19. This event will introduce Overwatch 2's first-ever event pass, allowing players to earn tickets for various holiday-themed cosmetics. A fix for Mercy's Super Jump exploit may be included in the Winter Wonderland update. If not, players can anticipate a resolution, perhaps as part of a mid-season update after the start of the new year.
